Kallen continued her campaign of stealing from the corrupt and giving to the poor.
By day, she stayed by your side and Otto's, living peacefully. But at night, she became the white phantom thief—darting across rooftops and vanishing into the shadows.
These were the happiest days of Kallen's life, where she could truly feel the joy of helping others with her own hands.
…
With your subtle guidance, Kallen's "thief skills" became increasingly polished.
But as the saying goes—walk by the river long enough, and your shoes will eventually get wet.
No one can avoid mistakes forever. Each time something went wrong, Otto and you were there to pull her out of trouble.
Yet after watching Otto's clean, effective rescues, you couldn't help but secretly wish Kallen would stumble a bit more often.
Tonight, under the dark sky, two fully armored Schicksal soldiers were hot on the heels of the elusive white thief—though what they were really chasing were the two heavy sacks of "liberated wealth" she carried.
If things went as usual, this chase would drag on for quite a while.
But after turning just one corner, the pure white thief had disappeared without a trace.
In her place stood a noble lady in an emerald green gown—her footing unsteady, eyes shimmering with tears, as if she'd just been jostled by someone rushing past.
The two soldiers, panting and bewildered, glanced at each other and hesitated to advance.
Still, thinking of the infamous white thief, one of them cautiously stepped forward and asked, "Ma'am… did you happen to see someone pass by?"
The lady sobbed dramatically, then pointed with trembling fingers.
"A strange white-haired woman carrying heavy bags ran into me—she fled that way."
The soldiers nodded gratefully and, feeling they had just received valuable intel, dashed off without delay in the direction she pointed.
Long after they had disappeared into the distance—
Lu Mian finally emerged from the shadows, ignoring Kallen, who was now crouched on the roof of a nearby inn.
Instead, he looked at Otto—the so-called "noble lady"—standing beside him in full disguise.
His lips twitched uncontrollably.
Otto gave Lu Mian a sultry glance and said in a calm, clear voice:
"Go ahead. Laugh if you want."
That single sentence shattered Lu Mian's composure.
She nearly doubled over, trying to hold in her laughter but failing miserably.
Otto—dressed in a hand-sewn emerald gown, complete with matching hat, soft feathers, and delicate lilies—was nothing short of stunning.
Under the gentle moonlight, the "lady's" graceful figure shimmered with elegance.
Golden hair spilled down like a waterfall, emerald eyes sparkled like a starlit lake in midsummer, and those cherry-pink lips curled slightly—like a lover about to whisper something scandalous.
Was it beautiful? Absolutely.
But knowing it was Otto—Lu Mian couldn't see any of that.
All she wanted to do was *laugh her soul out of her body.*
It was like seeing a noble bishop suddenly turn into the "Empress of Green Lily."
It didn't matter how regal or perfect the disguise was—it was just *hilarious.*
"Brother—no, damn it—*Sister!*" Lu Mian gasped, finally giving in to wild laughter. "You're too real! Way too real!"
Unable to resist, she reached out with a teasing "dragon claw" and gave Otto's chest a squeeze.
The fake bosom was disturbingly lifelike.
Before she could get a second grope in, Otto gasped and swatted Lu Mian's hand away with surprising force.
"Sorry, sorry," Lu Mian tried to apologize, forcing her expression into something respectful—but she couldn't stop grinning. "Forgive me, Lady Green Lily—pffft, hahahaha!"
…
That night, you laughed nonstop about the "Green Lily incident"—even after returning home.
Otto, who looked nothing like himself in that dress, initially frowned in annoyance… but he ended up laughing with you too.
He couldn't remember the last time he saw you smile like that—so freely, so purely.
As for Kallen, when she returned from her nightly justice spree and saw both of you in such good spirits, she joined in the laughter too—completely unaware of what had happened.
Look—wasn't this a perfect world?
No one was hurt. No one was punished.
"What about the nobles who lost their gold?" you ask?
Well—for the sins they committed and the dirty money they hoarded… death a hundred times over would still be too kind.
-----------------------
The white thief distributed all the stolen gold to the destitute and starving.
But life didn't truly improve for those people.
Hunger, illness, and oppression still loomed.
Kallen didn't stop her actions out of disappointment—but she began to reflect more deeply.
How could the world *truly* become better?
You and Otto weren't surprised by the reality. After all, you already knew:
Behind the golden facade of Schicksal lay a festering rot.
And humanity's greatest enemy has never been the Honkai alone—but *humans themselves.*
As long as the corrupted old Schicksal remained in power, there would never be true peace for the people.
The internal contradictions of humanity must be solved from within.
True resolution requires more than surface charity—it requires *change.*
But… were Otto, Kallen, and even you ready for that?
History has shown us: no meaningful transformation has ever occurred without bloodshed and sacrifice.
Otto and Kallen still weren't ready to shoulder that kind of weight.
As for you… you could bear it. You were ready.
But your existence was limited to the next four years.
Four years might be long enough to prepare—but also too short to witness Otto and Kallen's growth to the end.
Even so, you could still help them take that first step.
You still believed in the future.
And more importantly—you didn't believe Kallen's actions were meaningless.
Real people were helped. Real smiles were earned.
Even if that joy was brief—like morning dew—it was real.
So no, you couldn't say Kallen had "accomplished nothing."
The larger question—the *ultimate ideal*—was the lifelong pursuit of all true idealists.
And you would remain by Kallen's side.
Maybe not for eternity, but certainly for as long as your life would allow.
At the very least, you could be with her to the very end.
