No matter what happens, the world keeps spinning, and time continues to move, as always.
Kallen grew up.
She continued her cultivation under her father's guidance, and Kaslana's excellent genes and innate stigmata quickly made her a formidable Valkyrie.
Soon after, she joined the Valkyrie Order under Schicksal and became the captain of the Valkyrie unit.
Otto is also growing.
His leg and foot issues, as well as his frailty, have all been cured by you, and he should have gradually come into contact with battle.
But you restrained him, only allowing him to strengthen his body and preventing him from getting involved in those fights and killings.
Your explanation? That you took good care of his body not to send him to war with your own hands.
Otto doesn't compare to Kallen; his foundation is too thin. It's inevitable that swords and blades won't go unnoticed on the battlefield. You don't want to see the expected results—not even think about any possibilities.
Besides, there are deeper reasons you haven't explained to Otto.
Otto is by your side, and you can still see him. If he were to step into the dirty vortex of destiny, it's hard to say what kind of person he would become.
The truth is, which politician who indulges in the games of power doesn't have a heart?
Who dares to keep Otto Apocalypse on vacation, hmm...
Otto, who originally thought you were meddling too much, listened to your caring explanation and then spent three days burying himself in books like he wanted to devour even the covers.
Power? Battle? Joy was here. No thoughts at all, hehe~
Thus, Kallen grew up alongside Otto.
The maiden and the young man had both entered their youth in an instant.
You haven't changed at all.
They've grown taller again—already close enough to reach your chest.
It's understandable why Otto is only half a head taller than Kallen, given that Kallen is less than 1.8 meters tall.
You've provided him with plenty of nutrition from a young age, haven't you? So where is that nine-foot-long, muscular bishop from your memory?
Boys often have a certain pride in their height, but you—despite standing at 1.8 meters tall—have to think about Otto.
For this, you've asked Otto more than once if he wanted help increasing it—with no side effects.
He, however, always compares his height to your chest, then smiles softly and says it's enough.
It's really strange.
Forget it. The silly boy is just a silly boy.
Besides, there's no need to grow too tall; becoming a spiritual giant is far more important than just being tall.
Year 1470, a dessert shop.
Afternoon sunlight slanted in warmly, bathing everything in a soft golden glow.
Inside the store, Lu Mian and Otto sat around a round table, enjoying various exquisite desserts.
They chatted over tea, while Kallen made strawberry cakes at astonishing speed.
This world is truly strange: some people can indulge in sweetness, while others are impoverished beyond reason. The girl kept talking, but her gaze was absent-minded.
Her eyes were fixed on the window—an elderly couple selling fruits along a desolate street.
Enduring hardship, struggling for survival. It really stirs the heart.
Kallen stared for a while, but her gaze kept drifting back to the two people laughing and chatting—or rather, to Lu Mian.
Since you used your powers to save Kallen's father, her attitude toward you has aligned with Otto's.
How to put it… it's a little strange.
But you didn't think much of it—you simply assumed she admired you.
There are only three people in the store now.
This scene feels almost exclusive, like only the three of you exist. Does that mean Kallen is calm enough to hide her gaze? Or is Lu Mian just blind?
Lu Mian paused her talk with Otto, gave Kallen a light smile, and said gently:
"Do what you believe is right. I support you with both hands."
"Yay~!"
The girl dashed out of the store excitedly.
Lu Mian retracted her gaze and looked at Otto, who was about to speak but hesitated. She seemed to have already read his mind, and said softly:
"Feel free to ask anything you want."
"...Nothing. Didn't you say you didn't want me to become too good? Then why..."
Why let Kallen show kindness?
Could this be some kind of special treatment?
Otto's eyes immediately sharpened.
Lu Mian's smile deepened when she saw his reaction.
She raised her hand, instinctively wanting to pat his head, but paused—realizing they weren't children anymore.
The hand lingered midair, then instead she handed him a plate of cake.
With that simple motion, Otto suddenly seemed to understand everything. His gaze softened as he took the cake and happily took a bite.
"Kallen was soft all over—not even her heart was hard," Lu Mian looked out the window at Kallen standing in the sunlight. "But her pursuit of justice was unwavering. Kindness would never be a burden to her."
"You're different. You're too smart—you think far more than Kallen. If you lived like her, it'd be exhausting."
"Every time I see her act like this, I can't help thinking: there are so many people in this world facing injustice, and I can't save all of them, can I?"
Otto lowered his eyes and said nothing.
Lu Mian watched Kallen from beginning to end, then turned to Otto. Her expression was gentle.
That warmth… could melt hearts.
You're too clever, too complicated.
"Kallen and I are both clumsy. We just help the people in front of us and do what's right in front of us. Isn't that simpler?"
Help the people in front of you with what's right in front of you...
Otto met Lu Mian's eyes. He fell into deep thought and engraved those words into his heart.
Seeing this, Lu Mian tucked away her logic and teased him playfully:
"Besides, you two are already different. If I taught you both the same things, wouldn't that be boring?"
"I don't like good kids or favor bad ones. I just like you two."
You two?
Forget it. If it's Kallen…
You can't fully see what Otto is thinking.
Perhaps he doesn't agree with what you said, but so what?
You share your thoughts not to change him, but to give him more angles, more ways of thinking. So that one day, he'll be just, impartial, and unshakable.
As for Kallen—you once tried to guide her.
But in the end, she didn't need it.
Everything she believed in was already correct.
Even you had to applaud her.
Kallen's problems come in two parts: external and internal.
Externally, the world is no longer ancient. The powerful are born into influence. Justice, truth, kindness, and beauty no longer have a place.
Internally, she lacks a defined plan. She doesn't address the root causes of the problem.
Seeing poor fruit vendors and buying from them? That only treats the symptoms, not the disease.
Externally, you're currently at a loss—no, not a loss. You're simply unwilling.
Internally, you already have some plans.
