Yang Yun was sure that it was Gu Junming talking behind Liao Dongyuan's back.

Sun Chan raised her foot and kicked Yang Yun in the belly. Yang Yun, completely unprepared, fell sideways to the ground.

"How dare you hit me?"

Sun Chan coldly replied, "You've come after me repeatedly and framed me, but I've chosen to ignore you. Do you really think I'm easy to bully? Get out of here immediately! Don't ever appear in front of me again, or every time I see you, I'll hit you!"

A country bumpkin dared to talk like this to me? Yang Yun paid no heed to the dust on her face and clothes, lunging forward to claw at Sun Chan's face, but again Sun Chan kicked her to the ground.

Sun Chan had been adept at farm work for two lifetimes; even in the city, she did plenty of physical labor, carrying fruit and handling coal—it made her strong. Although she had only spent a month with free time doing study and sewing recently.

Sun Chan winced in pain, kicking her away. Gu Junming also stepped in, pulling her wrists aside to take Sun Chan away.

At this moment, Father Yang arrived, parting the crowd of onlookers. Seeing his eldest daughter so miserably sprawled on the ground, he immediately shouted.

"What's happened here?"

Yang Yun promptly cried out in grievance, "Dad! She hit me, Dad, look at what she did to me!"

Father Yang regarded Sun Chan with hatred, "You let Gu Junming tell tales, causing Liao Dongyuan's matchmaking to fail, and now you hit your sister? Don't you think you've gone too far? How could you be so insensible! What did your sister do to offend you, for you to do this? Even if your sister made a mistake, did you have to be so cruel?"

She finished speaking and started to leave.

"Stop! Who taught you to be like this! Haven't you gone too far? Bringing back so many bad habits from the countryside, I see you need discipline!" Father Yang said coldly, helping Yang Yun up and speaking to Sun Chan, "Apologize to your sister immediately, or else I won't be kind!"

Sun Chan sneered, "What do you mean you won't be kind? Do you mean hit me like last time? That slap was the last time in your life; don't expect it again."

"What do you mean!" Father Yang charged forward, attempting to slap her, only to be stopped by Gu Junming.

He grasped Father Yang's wrist and smiled faintly, "There's still an exam in the afternoon, you'd better take your precious daughter and leave."

He emphasized the words "precious daughter" heavily.

Father Yang shouted, "Was it you reporting to Liao Dongyuan, speaking ill of her, causing the matchmaking to fail?"

Gu Junming replied flatly, "We're too busy with our own affairs to care about others. Besides, I'm not that familiar with Liao Dongyuan; whatever I say, would people believe it?
