Elena sighed. "I'm sorry. I just… couldn't talk to you at that moment."

Gerald nodded. "I spoke to her. She looks old—fragile, even. My guess? She has some kind of passive ability that makes magic attacks useless. That explains why the fireball didn't even phase her."

Akira leaned in, listening intently. "Hmm…"

"With my ability, I can sneak into her house," Gerald continued, his tone darkening. "And then… I'll kill her."

Akira fell silent, thinking. The woman was too valuable to simply discard… but what use was her power if she couldn't be brought into his crew?

"Alright, Gerald. I approve the mission," he finally said. "But don't be reckless. I don't want to lose you—you're too important to the crew."

Gerald returned to his stove. The food was ready. He dished up for everyone, setting aside a plate for himself—for after the mission.

Then, he made his way to the weapons room and selected a small axe and a dagger.
