Xander felt sore all over. His whole body ached as he tried to move a bit. He opened his eyes to see Hannah looking at his face, a complex expression of fear and worry was etched on her face.

"Di... did we make it out?" Xander asked in a low tone as his throat felt dry and his stomach hurts so much.

Hannah teared up as she saw that Xander was alive. She thought that he wasn't going to wake up anytime soon and that he may probably not even wake up at all.

Seeing that he was alive she just shook her head and smiled.

Xander furrowed his brows as one of the tears nearly entered his eyes. But then his eyes shined as he realised what she meant.

'Does she mean we didn't get out?' Xander thought as he sat up with furrowed brows, not wanting what he thought to be true.

To his horror, they were still in the cave but it was quiet now and there were four alters like the ones Xander saw before.

"I tried to leave but there was a barrier and I couldn't pass it," Hannah stood up and helped Xander up.

He wrapped an arm around Hannah's slender neck as she helped him stand. He observed the alter and all of them had the same red aura from before.

Xander looked at Hannah and saw that the pretty girl still had a sad look on her face.

"It's okay Hannah. The Manticore's dead." Xander said, trying to make her not feel guilty for anything.

"How can I calm down? We... we had a plan... an... and I just fainted out of fear. You had to give me your armour and now you're hurt..."

Xander's expression went from worried to tired.

"It's not your fault."

"Huh?" Hannah looked at him, her eyes welled up with tears.

Xander showed her the back of his left hand where there was a black ring. The ring of knights, one of Xander's favorite items in this world.

"This ring makes me immune to any magic attacks so the psychic attack of the manticore didn't affect me." Xander explained with a shrug.

"Th... that's so cool." Hannah immediately went back to her normal self and she began smiling again after she asked Xander how he got the overpowered ring.

"There are four alters. And I am supposed to choose one." Xander said, observing the four alters.

"What happens if you choose the wrong one?" Hannah blinked.

"Well... knowing how dangerous this cave is. Probably something bad," Xander said as he looked at the entrance of the cave to see a transparent blue barrier.

"How do we know which one it is?" Hannah said, afraid that they might have to spend the rest of their lives in the cave.

'It won't be bad staying here with him though.' She thought with a blush. She suddenly felt Xander leave her support and she turned to him.

Xander walked towards the alter. 'This is crazy. I just want to get out of this place as fast as possible.'

'I... should I just stay in the cave?' Xander thought, fearing that he'll die eventually as the mechanism of the challenges was so complex and sstrict.

'No. I haven't tried so how would I know picking the right one is impossible.' Xander sat down on the floor and crossed his legs as he began monitoring the red energy surrounding the four alters in front of him.

Hannah walked towards him and sat by his side, looking at the alters to study them too as she didn't want to be useless again.

'I'm not feeling anything different from any of them.' Xander thought with furrowed brows.

He couldn't see the one that is different from others. The red energy from the alters all felt the same to him and he couldn't figure out the one that had the same type of energy and feel.

'What did I feel when I was at those alters?' Xander began to ponder. 'The energy felt ominous and dark. And... it was red.'

He looked forward at the energies and then he facepalmed. 'All of the energies are all red and they l feel ominous! What do I do now?!'

Xander felt like crying. He had his family in the real world so he obviously didn't want to die.

"Xander look at this." Hannah said as she stood up and walked towards a particular alter.

Xander for confused and followed her.

"Look. The writings on this one is slightly different than the rest." Hannah said as she pointed to the markings on the alter.

Xander looked at the markings and he was confused at first but then his eyes widened in sudden realization and he touched the alter.

[Do you choose this alter?]

[Yes] | [No]

Xander didn't pay attention to the notification and closed his eyes to feel the energy very well.

It was similar to Primordial energy but it was slightly different. There was a black thread that connected his finger... or rather the ring on it, to the alter.

Xander then went to the other alters to check the same thing and when he didn't see the thread. He walked back to the first one with a sense of certainty.

"You sure about this?" Hannah's said in a shaky voice.

"Only one way to find out."

Hannah swallowed her saliva as she heard Xander's words.

Xander put all his faith in luck as he touched the first alter once more.

[Do you choose this alter?]

[Yes] | [No]

Xander clicked the [Yes] button and then he closed his eyes as a red light beamed feom below him.
